Niners RB Christian McCaffrey super excited to be back: ‘ long journey’
Christian McCaffrey’s return to the field didn’t get eye-popping stats, but his presence was a steadying force in Sunday’s 23-20 victory over Tampa Bay. “It just feels great to be here,” McCaffrey shared with the Associated Press. “It was a long road back with countless tough days, winning and being able to play again means a lot.”After missing the season’s first eight games due to Achilles and calf injuries, McCaffrey made a powerful comeback . According to Next Gen Stats, he was on the field for 54 of 61 offensive snaps, although he faced a tough Buccaneers run defense, managing 39 rushing yards on 13 carries. Still, he made an impact with six catches for 68 yards.”I don’t go into games with specific expectations, but I want to be out there when needed and called,” he noted. “This was just my third time in pads in eight weeks, so finding my rhythm was important. It felt good to be back, and honestly, I thought I’d be more sore. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow.”
