Stunning Dolphins Shake-Up: D.Long Surprisingly Released, J.Stoll Joins the Fold

Unexpectedly, the Miami Dolphins shook things up by releasing linebacker David Long on Wednesday. This surprising move paved the way for tight end Jack Stoll to join the team after being picked up from the waiver wire. Long, who was initially named a team captain at the beginning of the season and had started in six out of Miami’s eight games, saw his position usurped by Anthony Walker in the past couple of weeks. The recent acquisition of linebacker Tyrel Dodson ultimately rendered Long dispensable. The Dolphins made a strategic decision to prioritize adding Stoll to fortify their tight end squad following Alec Ingold’s injury. Despite being stripped of his starting position, Long may still draw interest from other teams in need of linebacker support. If Long doesn’t find a new team, the Dolphins will incur a $2.65M dead cap hit.
